A guide on how to properly fill out a Z83 Application form (with examples).

If you want to have a career in the public sector of South Africa, your application must include a document called a Z83 form. A Z83 application form is an application form issued by the South African Government. The document is there to assist government recruiters in selecting the right candidate for the job. The document is updated after a certain period of time. You should always use the up-to-date form when applying for a job. The use of an expired form will result in disqualification from the application. Completing the Z83 application form can be challenging for some people. Before filling out the form

Before filling any field on the form make sure to go through the whole form and find out the requirements needed to complete the form. Gather all the information needed and put it aside for future use. Also, make sure you read the far-left column of the form where there are some special notes and instructions concerning the form. Moreover, complete the form using clear and legible handwriting to avoid any loss of information. Adding on, make sure to spellcheck your work and check if every spelling is correct before submission. Ok, I m sure you have got this, now let’s jump into filling out the form itself.

The first section is about the advertised post. This section is compulsory, you cannot skip any part of the section. The part requires you to add information about the position you are applying for and most importantly the reference number of the post. Make sure your reference number matches the position of the job you are applying for. Consequently, If you fill in a wrong reference number or job position, your application will be void.

Section B (Personal information)

Section B is the longest part of the application form. The section requires you to fill in your personal information. You will provide your ID number, full name and surname, date of birth (DOB), and race. The rest of the section contains Yes/No questions. Make sure you answer all these questions truthfully to avoid problems in the next phase of your application. Ultimately, read the questions thoroughly to understand them so that you can provide the right answers.

Moving on to the next section is Section C. You are required to provide your current contact information in the section. Make sure to submit valid and active contact information. Should the recruiter need to contact you, they must not face any problems contacting you. We recommend you use your cellphone number as the preferred means of communication, as you keep your phone with you all the time.

Section D (Language Section)

South Africa is a multi-lingual country. The country has 11 official languages. English, Afrikaans, and nine other ethnic languages, with Zulu and Xhosa being the most widely used. The form has 5 slots for languages. You are required to rate your language proficiency from good to bad. Make sure you add the language that is in the location of the job you are applying for.

In this section, you fill in your qualifications. Fill out your qualifications starting with your highest and ending with your lowest. If you have many qualifications, add the most relevant to the position. The other qualifications will be shown in your attached CV. Make sure you add your qualification, followed by your institution and year obtained.

Section G is where you fill in your references. Make sure to add credible references who have something positive to say about you. Three references are the standard, add their name and contact information.

The last section involves you signing the form thus declaring that all the information you have filled above is complete and correct to the best of your ability. Sign the form and input the date of completion.  Do not forget to put initials on all your application form pages.
